Vista Health System offers its employees competitive salaries, advancement opportunities, modern facilities and a comprehensive benefits package that includes the following components.
To qualify for benefits, an employee must be hired for 20 or more hours per week. Below is a brief summary of the benefits we have to offer.

Health Insurance
Our health care plan offered through Blue Cross/Blue Shield. There are 2 plan levels to choose from. Vista Health System pays a significant portion of the employee’s monthly health care costs.

Vista Medical Discount Program
Employees and their families who elect our Health Insurance, and who receive healthcare services at Vista Health System, receive the extra benefit of having their deductible and co-insurance portions waived.

Dental Insurance
Our dental insurance is offered through Delta Dental of Tennessee. Benefits are provided for both in-network and out-of-network services. Vista Health System pays a significant portion of the employee’s monthly dental insurance costs.

Vision Insurance
Our vision insurance is offered through Vision Service Plan (VSP). There are thousands of VSP providers across the nation, and benefits are provided for both member and non-member providers.

Short-Term Disability
Our short-term disability plan provides valuable income protection during a disability. STD coverage can provide 60% of your salary to a maximum of $3,000 per month after the 14th consecutive day of an illness or injury.

Long-Term Disability
As a protection for total disability from an injury or illness, Vista Health System offers long-term disability coverage for all employees hired for 32 or more hours per week free of charge. Employees hired for 20 – 31 hours per week may purchase long term disability. After 90 days of disability, LTD can provide up to 60% of your monthly earnings up to a maximum of $5,000/month.

Life Insurance and Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D)
Vista Health System provides employees hired for at least 32 hours per week with basic life insurance and AD&D at no cost.

Supplemental Life Insurance and Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D)
In addition to the basic life insurance, Vista offers supplemental life insurance from $25,000 to $200,000 provided you are hired for at least 20 hours per week. You may also elect a $25,000 life insurance policy for your spouse and either a $5,000 or $10,000 policy for your dependent children.

Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)
Our FSA plan allows participants to pay certain dependent care (child/adult day care) and unreimbursed medical expenses with before tax dollars. The maximum deduction is $5,000 per plan year.

Retirement Savings Plan - 401(k)
All employees who are at least 21 years of age who have completed a minimum of six months of employment are eligible to participate in the 401(k) Plan. Under the Plan, you may contribute between 1% and 25% of your gross compensation, including any bonuses or other special payments, through payroll deductions (to a maximum amount per year fixed by the IRS). The CHS employer matching contribution is currently 33 1/3% of the first 6% of your salary deferral. The maximum match each plan year is currently 2% of salary deferral.

401(k) Supplemental Savings Plan
Due to IRS restrictions on limitations for highly-compensated employees (i.e., those earning at least $105,000 annually or as indexed by the IRS), certain individuals may be limited to a restricted participation in the 401(k) Plan. If you are designated as a highly-compensated employee for 401(k) Plan purposes at the end of each plan year, the Human Resources Department can provide you with details regarding participation in the 401(k) Supplemental Savings Plan.

Tuition Reimbursement/Certification Reimbursement
Regular full-time employees may receive up to $2,500 per year reimbursement; part-time employees may receive up to $1,250 per year.
- Annual Employee/Dependent Scholarship Program
Each year we award 5-10 scholarships to our employees or children of our employees, which can range between $500 - $1000 each.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing Completion Program
Vista Health System offers a fully-funded BSN Completion Program through Northern Illinois University’s School of Nursing. The majority of the classes can be taken on-line, and the face-to-face courses can be taken on-site at Vista Medical Center – East Campus. Tuition is 100% paid for by Vista Health System.
- Medical Coding Specialist Training Program
Vista Health System provides free training courses to prepare associates for promotional opportunities into the Health Information Management field and into Medical Coding Specialist job categories.
- Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
Our First Advantage EAP Plan provides trained professionals, who all have master-level degrees and extensive experience, and who are available to provide various types of assistance at no cost.
- Paid Time Off (PTO)
All regular full- and part-time employees accrue paid time off (PTO). PTO can be used for vacation, holidays, and personal time. PTO is accrued each pay period based on your employment classification and on your length of service as of your anniversary date.
- Paid Sick Leave
Vista Health System provides paid sick leave in the event of your inability to work due to illness, injury, or family emergency involving your immediate family members who live with you, or to secure necessary treatment for medical conditions. Hours are accrued each pay period and may be used following 90 days of continuous employment.
- Paid Bereavement Leave
For employees hired to work at least 24 hours per week, we provide up to 3 days off with pay in the event of a death of immediate family members.
- Leaves of Absence
Leaves of absence up to 12 work weeks may be granted to all regular employees.
- Employee Suggestion Program & Awards
Employees can provide formal suggestions (via the FOCUS Suggestion Program) and be eligible for awards for ideas that are implemented.

Nominations are submitted by hospital peers who recognize co-worker productivity, quality, and dedication.

Patient Choice Awards – Nurse of the Year
Former and current patients annually nominate nurses who go above and beyond the call of duty. Awards are presented during Nurses’ Week.

This recognition program allows physicians, patients and visitors nominate employees for caring attitudes.

Community Cares Program
This program takes a guest relations approach to customer service. This program instills a culture-building philosophy based on specific and proven principles of customer service designed to enhance the service delivery experience for customers, patients, physicians and employees.

This program provides avenues for all staff to express their official appreciation via our branded Thank You Notes.

This program provides recognition and a celebration luncheon for all staff who achieve milestone anniversaries..

Perfect Attendance Award
This program recognizes staff members who have achieved perfect attendance at 6 month intervals.

Employee Referral Bonus
Referral bonuses are provided for referring employees into eligible positions if they are subsequently hired.

Cafeteria
Vista Medical Center East operates a cafeteria with a varied and nutritional menu at special lower rates for employees. There are also vending machines and a microwave oven for times when the cafeteria is not serving.

Smoke-Free Environment
To promote a healthier work environment for all employees, patients, visitors and volunteers, smoking is restricted to the designated outside smoking area.
