Services A - Z
Psychiatry Services

Life isn't easy. At one time or another, everybody carries a burden that's too much to manage alone. And often, the only thing standing in the way of healing a broken life, is the courage to ask for help. Vista Health's Psychiatry Department, located at Vista Medical Center West, is the only facility in Lake County offering comprehensive psychiatric programs for adults, adolescents and children.

Vista Medical Center West has been a provider of comprehensive psychiatric services to the adults, adolescents and children of Lake County for over thirty years.

Treatment Options
Inpatient Care, Partial Hospitalization, Intensive Outpatient Care

Our team of independent psychiatrists and psychologists, nurses and other care professionals has a unique understanding of how to help people of all ages manage personal crises and learn important skills to handle life's challenges more effectively. After an initial evaluation or assessment, we create an individualized treatment plan that begins with inpatient care, partial hospitalization or intensive outpatient care.

Our staff of independent psychiatrists and psychologists, psychiatric nurses and skilled therapists, have a broad base of experience. This experience helps the team develop and implement an individualized treatment plan for every patient. The care team also draws upon strengths found in the patient's support system to help sustain gains made in treatment and to develop comprehensive aftercare plans.

Under the direction of the attending independent psychiatrist, each patient is provided with:

  • Comprehensive psychiatric evaluation

In addition to the individual psychotherapy sessions, the program provides group interventions dealing with a wide variety of issues and problem areas such as:

  • Medication management
  • Communication skills
  • Coping with loss and grief
  • Managing depression and anxiety
  • Development of improved coping skills

Attendance is flexible to enable patients to stay at home and continue to participate in work and/or school. By participating in the Intensive Outpatient Program, many individuals build upon skills learned in inpatient care or partial hospital care.
